Secret Beach and Anini Beach, off the beaten path on the breathtakingly scenic northern coast of Kauai, are rare and special places where your own footprints may be the only ones there. On Kauai, known as the “Garden Island,” the oldest and northernmost of the four main islands that make up Hawaii, a mere 3% of the land is developed—leaving visitors ample opportunity to explore and savor the island by themselves.

Kauai’s interior is beautifully pristine and exceedingly diverse. Between the 3,567-foot depths of Waimea Canyon, stretching 14 miles across the western end of the island, and the 3,000-foot high mountain peaks that rise up from the ocean floor, are miles of wild, tropical beauty. Kauai’s dazzling scenery has provided the backdrop for more than 50 motion pictures and television shows including South Pacific and Jurassic Park.
Kauai’s weather is close to perfection, with year-round daytime temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s. The northeast tradewinds provide refreshing breezes and rain showers generally occur over the mountainous regions during the night or early morning.
